Bulletin Boards

One of my favorite parts of my classroom is the bulletin boards. I love changing them based on theme, activity, or season. And I love seeing the joy and excitement on my kids' face when they see their own work displayed.
Below are some examples that I want to share with you, but first I'm going to share how I put them up.

Putting up my Bulletin Boards
Now every teacher knows how tricky put up a bulletin board can be and then when your down you have to tear it down and start over. Sizing and measuring the background butcher paper, then it ripping and wrinkling,  and staples everywhere! Then you step back to take a look at your hard work and it was nothing like you had in mind.
Teacher Tip: use fabric as your back drop.
Fabric backdrops make bulletin board set up super easy for you throughout the year.  No more tearing paper or seeing thousands of staple holes on your board.

How to put up fabric as backdrop for bulletin boards

Choose a fabric color that will fit your clasroom color scheme or a neutral color. Cut fabric to the size you need for your board.

1. Using push         2. Staple edge          3. Staple
pins, tac fabric       to the wall. Tip:       border

edges.                       push pins.

Now I do still use paper for some boards that I plan on keep up all year. Like these two, my math and ELA:

I like to use fabric back drop for my writing wall. Mostly because I am constantly changing my display of student work.
Teacher Tip: I staple laminated 9"x12" paper to my board to add as a border around each student's work. Then I use paper clips or clothes pins at the top to hold their papers. This makes it easy for taking down and putting up new student work.
Teacher Tip: staple laminated paper to your bulletin board for a nice finish.
Writing Wall

ELA Focus Wall
This is one of my most used and looked at bulletin board. I change this weekly and refer to it daily. This wall uses Journeys curriculum to display this information.

Teacher Finds: I got the colorful sheet protectors  from the Target Dollar Spot. I switch out those papers each week for a new theme. I created and printed the titles, high frequency words, and spelling words. I use sticky clips to hold my vocabulary words. I got mine at Lakeshore Learning but you can find some on Amazon. The little black pocket chart that holds my spelling is also from Target Dollar section 😍
